2nd Dec. Day 7 Aruba
Good morning, evening, whatever folks, well today was a nice start to the day, we all slept really well mainly because we were in the port all night and the ship was dead still, the only thing we did get was a few fire/police siren’s which we were not used too. But anyway this morning we were going to the beach, weather permitting. Now this weather thing seems to have been a bit of an issue, each day presents us with a uncertain outcome, but so far we have been lucky, and the skies have broken and today was no different, especially over breakfast when the rain was pounding down the side of the restaurants windows we were thinking that todays plans of the beach were shot, but just when we were ready to leave the ship the skies opened up and the sun appeared and we were on our way.
Today we arranged to go to Eagle Beach which is only 3 miles down the road, so we thought that as we could see a load of 7 seater taxis outside the ship over breakfast that we could get ourselves in one of those, but no way, apparently this particular island only allows 5 people in a taxi and the jobsworth that was outside the ship was very happy to tell us that under no circumstances were we all to get into a 7 seater.
So 2 taxis it was then. We rocked up at Eagle beach a few minutes later and the driver of one of the taxis, Robert said that he could take us back in one taxi and the guy was a knob, so that would save us a few bucks. The beach was really nice we struggled first to find 6 sun loungers but after a little walk down the beach we were settled. $90 later we laying down on sun loungers and enjoying the unexpected sun.
There was a bar nearby which we used eventually but mainly we were happy to just sit around and enjoy the beach, we decided to head back to the ship at around 3pm and we all tried to call Robert with no luck, so decided that we would chance it with another taxi driver with the 6 of us, but when we got there Robert was sitting there in his taxi waiting for a fare. So we all got in and a few minutes later we were back at the ships terminal.
We all headed up to the 14th floor and the pool area for a drink and a dip in the pool as we were all a bit hot and sticky and covered in sand, this turned into a bit of a mini shesh and then enough was enough we had to get back and change for tonight.
The ship was not leaving until 6pm so it was nice to all get ready in time to see it leave Aruba and then on to the bars for a few more drinks and diner. We were in the main restaurant tonight and we all had a great meal and a right old catch up on days of old. Magic.
So then off to bed ready for tomorrows day in Curacao which apparently is only about 80 nautical miles away so tonights crossing is going to be a slow and smooth one.
